Cherry Midnight

Anthropologie halter blouse and belt, Anna Sui eyelet skirt, Nine West gladiator wedges

Photographed by Darren Fowler

This balmy night in April gave me the first taste of what's to come this summer.  The air was warm and windy and the trees were in full bloom.  I became inspired and decided to channel the beauty of the cherry blossoms with this retro Anthropologie halter.  The stores sold out of this top very quickly and I could not find my size anywhere.  However, I loved the top so much that I bought a much larger size in the hopes that I would get it tailored to fit.  To my surprise, the large size fit with the only difference being in the long length of the waist.  I still might get the waist shortened, but for now I love the long look layered over skirts.

The Anna Sui skirt is my absolute favorite! It is crisp white and gorgeous with eyelet detailing that is perfect for spring and summer.  To dress up this look I added the sparkling leather belt with beading.  I like to wear this belt backwards as well with the buckle hidden in back.  It's versatility makes it a key accessory in my wardrobe.

I hope this posting has inspired you to take a nighttime walk of your own this summer!  It's the simplest pleasure, but can revitalize and boost your spirit.

Thrifty Finds

Christopher Deane:  Brocade Mini Sheath Dress (Check out the gathered pockets...adorable)

Christopher Deane:  Karolina Polka Dot Dress

My Beacon's Closet visit proved to be successful! I can't believe I found these Christopher Deane pieces.  I used to intern for Joey Showroom a couple of years ago and at the time they marketed Christopher Deane's collections.  I was obsessed with the brand and the two dresses I found at Beacon's just so happened to be my favorite dresses from the designer.  What a treat to find them after all these years!  The dresses were sample sizes that had to come from a showroom, I wonder if they are the original samples that I worked with while interning.  Hmmmm....the life cycle of these fashion finds fascinates me.  Of course I do not fit sample sizes grrrr.. so I must find a talented seamstress if I ever dream of getting myself into these beauties.

Betsey Johnson:  Crochet dress (Midi length and fits like a glove)

 Ben Sherman: Ruched detail blazer

Vintage 70's chunky sling back pumps

Michael Kors: chunky sandal with gold detailing

These summery Michael Kors sandals were only $18!!!  Obviously it was a no brainer purchase.  They are in excellent condition and even more beautiful in person.  The multi toned stripe detail on the heel really stands out.  I cannot wait to wear them on balmy summer nights in my short shorts or flowy maxi dresses.

Beacon's Closet: b.r.o.o.k.l.y.n.

A Thrift lovers dream....

If you have the patience to comb through the racks (and believe me...I do) you will find vintage designer goodies for a bargain.

Neutrals can be mixed with bright prints for spring...

Street art on the sidewalk:  it looks to me as if the paint was strategically dripped into form...I love the fluidity of the lines.

What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon!  Thrifting with my best girls in Brooklyn was a treat.  The reasonable prices for the pre-loved clothing allowed for this shopping experience to be guilt free.  In my next post I'll show you all of my lovely finds.

Ladylike Trousers

Anthropologie blouse, trousers, and bracelet, Forever 21 heels, BCBG ring

I am an avid skirt and dress lover, but I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try out this look.  These pants were a little long for me.  Instead of getting them hemmed I just rolled them up to make the outfit a little more casual and and less structured.  Menswear dressing has been trendy for quite some time, so I'm a tad behind with attempting to pull it off.  Better late than never!  I kept the outfit feminine by pairing the trousers with a retro styled pink blouse.  It has adorable little button fasteners on the side that add to the retro aesthetic.  I simultaneously love and hate that detail because it's so time consuming to button all those buttons!  I needed just a touch of sparkle to top off the look, so I added my favorite cocktail ring and beaded mesh bracelet.
